Most Commonly Asked Questions
Q: Are tutoring sessions in person or virtual?
A: All tutoring sessions are strictly virtual by default. This allows us to use interactive digital tools and keeps scheduling efficient. In-person sessions are only accommodated under exceptional circumstances and must be explicitly approved by the tutor in advance.
Q: What technology does my child need for the sessions?
A: Your student will need a reliable internet connection, a computer, laptop, or tablet, and a working webcam and microphone. We also require that students log in from a quiet, distraction-free environment so they can focus completely.
Getting Started
Q: What is the first step to enrolling my child?
A: Before formal sessions can begin, all parents/guardians must schedule and complete a mandatory Discovery Call with the tutor. This call allows us to chat about your child’s current math class, their specific challenges, and their academic goals to ensure our program is the right fit.
Q: What should my child bring to each virtual session?
A: Students should log on a few minutes early with their cameras turned on. They need to have pencils, scratch paper or a notebook, a calculator, and any current school math assignments or textbooks ready to go.
Attendance, Cancellations, & Makeups
Q: What happens if my child misses a group tutoring session?
A: Because group sessions run on a fixed schedule with a collective dynamic, there are no refunds, credits, or reschedules for missed group sessions.
Q: What is the policy for missing an individual/private session?
A: If your child has a private session and needs to miss it, you must provide at least 24 hours' notice in advance.
With 24+ hours' notice: You qualify to schedule a makeup session.
With less than 24 hours' notice: The session is forfeited, and no makeup or refund will be given.
Q: Is there a fee for makeup sessions?
A: Yes. There is a $10.00 administrative scheduling fee applied to each approved makeup session.
Q: How long do we have to use our makeup sessions?
A: All approved makeup sessions must be completed before the end of the current 18-week tutoring period. Unused makeup sessions do not roll over and will expire at the end of the 18 weeks.
Payments & Fees
Q: When is tutoring payment due?
A: Tutoring fees must be paid in full [insert your frequency, e.g., weekly on Mondays / monthly in advance].
Q: What happens if a payment is late?
A: A late fee of $10.00 will be applied to any invoice that remains unpaid 3 days past the due date. To keep business running smoothly, tutoring services will be paused if an invoice becomes 7 days overdue.
Expectations & Progress
Q: Do you guarantee my child's math grades will go up?
A: While we pour our expertise and energy into helping your child master math concepts and build confidence, true academic progress is a team effort. It depends heavily on the student's focus, homework completion, and participation outside of tutoring. Therefore, we cannot legally guarantee specific grades or test scores.
Q: What happens if a student is disruptive during a session?
A: We maintain a respectful, positive environment. If a student is highly disruptive, inappropriate, or repeatedly disengaged, the tutor reserves the right to end the virtual session immediately. Parents will be notified, and no refund will be provided for that session.
Q: What if we need to stop tutoring entirely?
A: Either party may terminate tutoring services at any time by providing 2 weeks' written notice. Any prepaid, unused individual sessions (excluding any sessions missed in violation of the 24-hour policy) will be refunded to you.
